Volkswagen Tiguan Key Fob Battery (CR2032 Guide)

Tiguan key fobs on the first-generation 5N are widely listed as CR2032. Second-generation Mk2 notes sometimes disagree the same way Golf VII notes do—some print CR2025—so the cover stamp still wins.

Which Tiguan you are holding

The 5N (roughly 2008–2017 in many markets) is the CR2032-era story in most secondary notes. Mk2 cars sold afterward can carry flip keys or Kessy fobs by grade. A US Tiguan brochure photo is not automatic proof for a European shell of the same year.

Swap and open

Free the emergency blade, open at the blade slot or Kessy roundel slot, photograph the plus face, and seat one stamped coin. Do not force CR2032 into a CR2025 molding. A battery-only swap does not require programming.

Dead fob

Hold the whole Tiguan fob on the marked key symbol on the steering column. Confirm the car’s 12-volt battery if the cluster is dark.

FAQ

What battery does a Tiguan key fob take?

Usually CR2032; some Mk2 shells may be CR2025—read the stamp.

Is US Tiguan the same as Europe?

Often the same coin family; still stamp-check the shell you have.

Does Allspace change the coin?

Body style does not pick the coin—the fob does.
